Decadent Hot Chocolate

A creamy, indulgent hot chocolate with a touch of cinnamon, coffee, and Baileys. Perfect for a cosy bit of hygge!

Ingredients (Serves 6-8)

  • 1 bar (300g) Cadbury’s Dairy Milk
  • 2tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3-5 heaped tbsp cocoa powder (how sweet do you like it? )
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 50-100ml Baileys (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 100ml vanilla oat milk (optional)
  • 100ml double cream
  • 1L barista oat milk
  • 100ml strong coffee (about half a cup)
  • A splash of hot water (for blooming the cocoa powder)

Method

  1. Melt the Chocolate: In a large saucepan, gently melt the Cadbury’s Dairy Milk over low heat, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  2. Bloom the Powders: In a small bowl or cup, mix the cocoa powder and cinnamon with enough hot water to form a smooth paste. This enhances the flavor.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Once the chocolate has melted, stir in the cinnamon, salt, and the bloomed cocoa powder. Mix well until smooth.
  4. Add the Milk and Coffee: Slowly pour in the vanilla oat milk, barista oat milk, and coffee, stirring continuously. Heat gently until the mixture is warm and creamy (don’t let it boil).
  5. Finish with Baileys: Stir in the Baileys for a luxurious finish. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice as needed.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Pour into mugs and serve hot. For extra indulgence, top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Top tip

Haven’t got time for all the convoluted steps? Just mix all the wet things in your pot, and throw in your chocolate bar. Pour in your bloomed powders, and boom!
