Pumpkins

We went pumpkin picking the other day and my mum wanted me to do some kind of blog about it. So you are aware, this blog contains facts that are real, have been Googled and fact checked. F.Y.I we did not go pumpkin picking for Halloween.

THE DAY WE WENT AND HOW IT WAS.

It was a B.E.A-utiful day. The sun was (kinda) shining, a wonderful day to stay at home… hell nah, we’re gonna pick pumpkins! My mum made some lunch, threw me and my brothers in the car, and hit that pedal like she was going to get a medal!

We picked up my friend Peyton and shot straight to the field of pumpkins! Life was pretty good! It was the biggest field I have ever seen. Every single inch there was a pumpkin. Not even exaggerating.

Big ones-small ones, fat ones-long ones, wide ones-thin ones, tall ones-short ones, jaffa ones-haired ones pig ones-cow ones, colossal ones-humungus ones you name it there were trillions!

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know? Pumpkins grow in every continent except for one, Antarctica. The reason why is because pumpkins grow at constant temperatures around 65*F and 95*F.

Did you know? Every little and big part of the pumpkin is really useful (including seeds and skin). With the skin, you can make crisps, and stocks and broths by simmering the pumpkin skin then chucking in other vegetable scraps like onion and carrot tops.

Did you know? Pumpkins start out green before they turn orange or yellow. What makes them turn these colours is due to a process triggered by sunlight and the breakdown of green chlorophyll to reveal underlying orange and yellow pigments called carotenoids.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have learnt something today and see you in my next blog.
